The deep gratification in using all of my senses, led by curiosity and observation, layering all involvements, like a maturing ream of paper, until an intense appreciation of the subject forms.

Then; with ever expanding competence, patience, passion, precise timing and a mountain of good fortune the stars may align and… a visual miracle is born.

“It is in the wild places. Where the edge of the earth meets the corner of the sky, the human spirit is fed.”

— Art Wolfe

Brian Gardiner

I was born in Zimbabwe, educated there, South Africa and the UK, my deepest passion is the great African wilderness. I am an Hotelier by profession and had the incredible privilege to have lived in eight East and Southern African countries. It is through my curiosity and hunger for learning, I began to develop an appreciation of the rich tapestry of African fauna and flora. It was only when I had paid my respect to understanding the motif, that my photographic expression began to emerge and formulate. In photography, it is my primary belief that through treasuring the soul of the subject, a photograph must strive to evoke an emotion and connection within an observer.

“The noblest pleasure is the joy of understanding”

- Leonardo da Vinci
